Baytown, Texas Site Wins Prestigious Safety Award from Industrial Safety Training Council

Veolia's Stephen Slevin Accepts ISTC's Award

The hazardous waste facility operated by the Environmental Solutions and Services (ESS) team in Baytown, Texas, has been recognized with a safety excellence award from the Industrial Safety Training Council (ISTC), which recognizes the safety achievements of contractors working in the Gulf Coast area.

The Baytown facility received the award May 16 in recognition of the site’s accomplishment of achieving a Zero Recordable rate for three consecutive years, with zero lost time injuries for four years. ISTC recognizes contractors in the Golden Triangle (the area in Southeast Texas between the cities of Beaumont, Port Arthur and Orange) for outstanding safety performance in support of the many refineries and chemical plants in the region.

Stephen Slevin, the EHS&T manager for the Gulf Coast Branch, and Brent Fleniken, Project Manager at the TSDF at Port Arthur, attended the award ceremony. In accepting the award, Stephen praised the excellent work done by the Baytown team. “This award is a reflection of a full team effort, as the team on the ground does the work following SOP and company policies, as well as always using the MSA and stop work authority,” said Stephen. “While I was glad to accept the award on their behalf, it truly belongs to the team.”
