Veolia Water New Jersey, which has been serving New Jersey for 155 years, is excited to announce that voters in Manalapan resoundingly approved the sale of the Township’s drinking water system to the company Tuesday. This decision paves the way for Veolia to make significant investments in the local water infrastructure that will improve service quality, reliability and sustainability for years to come.

▁▁▁

Veolia will purchase the Manalapan Water System for $4 million, marking the beginning of a new era of water service for residents and businesses in the community. Over the next 10 years, the company will improve essential infrastructure, including replacing aging pipes, constructing a new water treatment plant and repairing water tanks. These projects will ensure that Manalapan’s water system meets the highest standards of water quality and reliability.

Alan Weland, Regional President, Veolia Water New Jersey, said “We are honored by the trust the residents of Manalapan have placed in us. This acquisition is an exciting opportunity for us and we are eager to make improvements that will serve this community. I want to thank the Township Committee and voters for approving the sale as the best way forward for the community.”

The acquisition reflects Veolia’s long-standing commitment to enhancing the communities it serves by providing cost effective, innovative solutions for sustainable water management. These goals exemplify Veolia’s global GreenUp strategy, which strives to lead the ecological transformation of the planet by accelerating water quality improvement, decarbonization and technological innovation. Veolia is dedicated to improving environmental resilience and ensuring that communities have access to essential resources that promote health, safety, and quality of life.

Many Manalapan residents already know Veolia. The company has been a trusted partner with Manalapan since 1995, when it began managing the water system for the Township. The system serves approximately 3,500 households and businesses in the Township.

Once the sale is complete next year, Veolia can move forward to implement the necessary upgrades and improvements that will benefit Manalapan’s residents. The company looks forward to working with local officials to ensure a seamless transition and successful implementation of the water system enhancements.
